Approve the purchase of a high-density shelving system from Arizona Furnishings, a vendor under Arizona state contract, in the amount of $102,160.52.
Background:
The Library District is currently housed in a very large space in the Old Bisbee High School, with more than 3,600 square feet available to store the books and library materials that are available to libraries countywide. The materials are stored on plain steel shelving.
The department is moving to a much smaller space at 1415 Melody Lane, Building C, and will have roughly 1,000 square feet to store the collection. Library staff have worked to pare down the collection to essential items, but high-density shelving is needed to make the remaining 25,000 items fit into the smaller space.
Funds for this purchase have been saved over the last three years, and are included in the proposed budget for FY 2022. The vendor is under Arizona state contract, so the purchase can be made without requiring additional procurement procedures.

The Library District will work with Procurement to purchase and install the shelving as soon as possible, so that the department can move to its new location.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Without a new shelving system, the Library District will not be able to move to the new location.
