Approve Cooperative Service Agreement 22-73-04-0228-RA between Cochise County and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and Wildlife Services, to assign a Wildlife Specialist to Cochise County for predator and disease control under the Wildlife Damage Management program to be conducted, in the amount of $46,385, effective July, 1 2022 through June 30, 2023.
Background:
This agreement is a continuing and annual agreement between Cochise County and the USDA, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Wildlife Services. This agreement provides for a Wildlife Specialist to be assigned to Cochise County to manage damage caused by wild and feral animals to livestock, agricultural commodities and public health. The Wildlife Specialist works with the Sheriff's Office Animal Control Officers. The cost of the position and equipment for Cochise County is $46,385. The remainder of the costs related to this position are to be borne by USDA. This agreement has been budgeted from the General Fund for the past several years.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Continue with the services as provided to mitigate predators and health issues related to animals within the county.
