Agenda Item Text:
Approve Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between Pima County and Cochise Health & Social Services, for Medical Examiner Services, at the base rate of $93,750 per quarter, effective July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2027.
Background:
Cochise County’s previous contract with Pima County to provide Medical Examiner expired June 30, 2022. This contract extends their services to Cochise County through June 30th, 2027. The base rate was increased from $87,500 per quarter up to $97,750 per quarter, which is an increase of $10,250 per billing period. Or looking at the annual cost the previous contract charged a total of $350,000 per year and the current contract increases the cost to $375,000 per year, which is a total per year cost increase of $25,000.
Pima County provides us with physicians employed by Pima County as Medical Examiners who will provide Medical Examiner services for and on behalf of Cochise County.
Cochise County determined a number of years ago that appointment of a full-time Cochise County Medical Examiner was not practical, and we entered into agreement with Pima County to provide these required services.
