Approve an interfund transfer of up to $250,000 from the Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (DEMA) Border Pilot Program Jail Fund to the General Fund for Sheriff's Office jail expenses.
Background:
In FY22, the Board approved the DEMA Border Pilot Program grant (DEMA M21-0082) for Sheriff's Office expenses related to the Jail and Border crimes. The grant was adopted after the FY began, so the funds were placed in Fund 204, while the Jail personnel expenses remained in the General Fund - therefore, a transfer from Fund 204 to Fund 100 is requested. The amount requested is up to $250,000, as the exact amount will not be known until after FY22 is over, and the "year closes". After FY22 closes, the budget manager will make the transfer, up to $250,000, reflective of actual expenses in 100-3000-3300 (personnel). The grant allots $1.42m to incarceration costs annual for four year.
For FY23, the tentative budget will reflect the grant revenue and grant expenses in the same fund (Fund 204), and no inter-fund transfer will be needed.
