Agenda Item Text:
Approve Amendment 2 to Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) CTR055256, Title V Maternal and Child Health Healthy Arizona Families, between the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and Cochise Health & Social Services, in the amount of $166,176, to revise the contract number and terms of the IGA, effective July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.
Background:
The Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services Block Grant funds efforts to “strengthen the family and community by promoting and improving the health status of women, infants and children.” This amendment funds year three of the five-year grant. The objectives of the grant are to promote and implement evidence-based strategies that enhance preventive and primary care services for this population.
The evidence-based strategies selected by CCHSS align with the National Performance Measures (NPM) framework for MCH programs. The measures selected include:
1) NPM#1 – Well Women Visits, 2) NPM#4 Breastfeeding and 3) NPM#10 Child Adolescent Well-Being.
The Public Health Improvement (PHI) program was moved from the Healthy People/Healthy Communities IGA to this IGA from ADHS and will be administered through this grant in the future. This program provides strategies to Public Health Accreditation, Quality Improvement, as well as Policy/Procedure development. This grant pays for a portion of the full time Accreditation Coordinator.
