Agenda Item Text:
Discussion and possible direction regarding the Draft Broadband Feasibility Study.
Background:
Broadband connectivity is crucial for our community and future generations growth and security in Cochise County. We are living in an unprecedented time and broadband infrastructure will shape our rural County. Federal funding is at an all-time high for bridging the digital divide. Deploying broadband requires a significant financial investment and will require partnerships between various organizations. Just like water and electricity, broadband has quickly emerged as an essential infrastructure. To help meet this end the Board of Supervisors approved funding to complete a Broadband Feasibility study, which will be presented during this work session.
Proposed outcome: Receive strategic direction from board on finding partners and seeking funding to improve broadband coverage throughout the county.
