Adopt Resolution 23-12 for Cochise County to use its Regional Account Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation/Emergency Home Repair within Cochise County.
Background:
The Notice of Availability of Funds was published in a newspaper of general circulation on February 5 and February 8, 2023. A public meeting was held on February 28, 2023 to receive public input as to how Cochise County should use its CDBG funds. No citizens attended the meeting in person or online. On March 14, 2023 the Board of Supervisors held a Work Session to discuss the use of the County's CDBG funds. No matching funds are required to use these grant funds.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If the resolution is adopted, the Development Services Department will submit an application to the AZ Department of Housing to use the CDBG funds for Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation/Emergency Home Repair.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If the Board of Supervisors does not adopt the resolution to use the CDBG funds for Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation/Emergency Home Repair, a different use of the funds should be selected and a resolution regarding that use of the funds should be adopted. If the Board of Supervisors does not select a specific use for the funds, the Development Services Department will not be able to submit a complete application for the AZ Department of Housing to approve. This could result in the loss of the use of the grant funds.
