Approve the addition of one Position Control Number in the Information Technology Department to create a full-time Senior Network Engineer position reallocating funds from the department's Fiscal Year 2024 appropriated professional services budget.
Background:
The IT department has outsourced our Senior Network Engineering needs over the past few years and would like to bring that back in house. Although we have received good support from the vendor, we would benefit from having more autonomy with a county employee to perform management and advanced network engineering for the County's overall information technology architecture. This request is not for additional funding but rather to move money from our professional service line item to wages and Employee Related Expenses. The IT department is currently approved for 22 Full Time Employees plus 2 SABRE Grant funded positions.

If approved we will begin the process to hire a qualified Senior Network Engineer.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved, the IT department will continue to outsource our Sr. Network Engineering role.
