Agenda Item Text:

Discussion and possible direction regarding the Cochise County Comprehensive Plan.

Background:

A comprehensive plan is a long-range planning document that takes a holistic approach to analyzing growth and development. It is intended to guide sustainable and equitable development, promote economic vitality, preserve natural and cultural resources, and enhance the quality of life in Cochise County, both now and in the future.  A comprehensive plan is effective for up to 10 years from the date the plan was initially adopted or until the plan is readopted or a new plan is adopted. The current plan was adopted May of 2015. Development Services staff wishes to initiate the Comprehensive Planning process. During the work session, staff will present a brief PowerPoint presentation that provides an overview of the document purpose, the planning process, a draft timeline, and citizen engagement plan.
