Information
Agenda Item Text:
Approve Amendment 2 to Interagency Service Agreement M22-0056 between the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (DEMA) and the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, authorizing DEMA to provide an additional $100,000 for overtime costs related to border incidents.
Background:
The Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs agreed to fund $100,000.00 in overtime costs associated with border related incidents. This is in addition to the funds currently allocated in the SABRE grant M22-0056.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office will utilize the $100,000.00 for overtime expenditures related to border crimes and incidents.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved, AZDEMA Amendment 2 will be returned to AZDEMA, and the Cochise County Sheriff's Office would lose funding for overtime expenditures needed to enhance law enforcement efforts associated with border-related activities.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Please approve the acceptance of these funds to enhance law enforcement resources and response to border-related incidents. One copy is to be retained by Cochise County and one copy to be returned to the Arizona Department of Public Safety through Captain John Gjerde.
