Adopt Resolution 24-21 to authorize the submittal of a grant application and enter into an agreement for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Colonias funds for owner-occupied housing repair to the Arizona Department of Housing.
Background:
Cochise County has received CDBG and State Housing Trust Funds from the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) to conduct housing repairs for income qualified county residents. An opportunity exists to apply for additional housing repair funding through ADOH's CDBG Colonias Grant. This opportunity is only available once every two years. This is a request to allow Cochise County to apply for the CDBG Colonias Grant. The amount will be based upon the number of residents who are pre-qualified for housing repairs at the time of the submission of the grant.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If the Board of Supervisors grants authority, the Development Services Department will apply for the CDBG Colonias Grant to perform housing repairs for income-qualified Cochise County residents.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If the Board of Supervisors does not authorize the submission of a CDBG Colonias Grant Application, the opportunity to apply for these funds will be lost and this opportunity will not reoccur for two years.
