Information

Agenda Item Text:

Approve Grant Agreement EMF-2022-BR-005-0001 between Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs and Cochise County Flood Control District for the Willcox Regional Flood Mitigation and Groundwater Recharge Scoping Project, in the amount of $200,000, effective March 26,2024, through March 25, 2027.

Background:

The Flood Control District applied for the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Grant through the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs for a watershed study of the Willcox Basin to locate potential areas for future flood control and recharge construction projects.  We applied for the grant December 2, 2022 and were awarded the grant August 29, 2024.
This is a scoping study for locations to construct flood control and recharge structures in the Willcox Basin.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Contract a consulting engineering firm to conduct the study.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

Flood Control District would not be able to support reduction of flooding and increasing recharge in the Willcox Basin.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

If passed, return one signed document to ENR.
