Agenda Item Text:

Approve Contract 25-04-SWD-01 with Desert Springs Construction and Remodeling, LLC for the Reconstruction of the Douglas Transfer Station in the amount of $58,595.00.

Background:

The Public Works Director worked with Procurement in issuing a scope of work for the formal bidding process.  The Procurement Department issued information for Bid 25-04-SWD-01 on October 18, 2024.  All interested vendors were invited to a pre-bid site visit on October 30, 2024.  All proposals were due on November 14, 2024.  One vendor, Desert Springs Construction and Remodeling, LLC submitted a proposal.  The proposal was evaluated and determined to be fair and reasonable and the vendor capable of completing the work requested.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Issue Contract and Purchase Order to Desert Springs Construction and Remodeling, LLC and begin scheduling the work.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

The Douglas Transfer Station will not be reconstructed.  Currently, the bottom of the transfer station has significant damage with large holes which allow debris to accumulate outside the transfer station.  This situation has caught the eye of the City of Douglas.
