Agenda Item Text:
Approve a letter to the State Broadband Director, Sandip Bhowmick, supporting Sulphur Springs Valley Cooperative, Inc.'s (SSVEC) application for funding through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program for all areas of Cochise County served by SSVEC not designated under the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) program.
Background:
The State Broadband Office will select an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to receive BEAD funding to install fiber in Cochise County. Sulphur Springs Valley Cooperative has proven to be an exemplary partner in addressing these challenges and is well-suited to expanding high-speed internet access in our region.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Development Services will mail the signed letter to the State Broadband Director
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If the support letter is not approved, the State Broadband Office will rate SSVEC's application for BEAD funding lower than possible.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
I will pick up the signed letter after approval.
