Agenda Item Text:
Discussion and possible direction regarding the 2045 Comprehensive Plan.
Background:
The Cochise County Comprehensive Plan (Plan) is a long-term planning document that establishes a vision, goals, and policies for the County’s future growth and development. It guides development pursuant to the present and future needs of the County. It also assists the planning commission and the board of supervisors in performing their duties. The Plan includes an introductory analysis of existing conditions, such as current demographics and land use. It also includes a summary of information gathered through public engagement process, which includes such as workshops and surveys. Most of the Plan is an outline of the community’s desires for future growth and preservation/conservation.
Cochise County’s current Plan was last adopted in 2015. In Arizona, Plans are effective for up to ten years. Consequently, the County must adopt an updated Plan in 2025. The update process will include input from residents, property owners, stakeholders, and businesses, as well as the Board of Supervisors and the Planning and Zoning Commission.
