Approve Contract 26-05-ENG-01 with Rummel Construction, Inc. for the grant-funded construction of the Bella Vista Detention Basin in the amount of $5,518,855 plus a 5% construction contingency.
Background:
The Engineering Department contracted with JE Fuller who developed the special provisions and construction plans of work needed for the construction of the Bella Vista Detention Basin. The Cochise County Engineer and Director of the Engineering and Natural Resources Department, Jackie Watkins worked with Procurement in releasing Invitation for Bid 26-05-ENG-01, Construction of the Bella Vista Detention Basin out for public solicitation.
A site visit was held for any interested vendors. Two vendors submitted bids. The Engineering and Natural Resources Director and Procurement reviewed the bid packets. The awarded vendor was the one that submitted the lowest responsive bid. The cost of the project will be $5,518,855.00 with a five percent contingency included.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Issue a Purchase Order to Rummel Construction, Inc. and begin working with them on developing a plan and schedule the work of constructing the detention basin.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The Bella Vista Detention Basin will not be constructed and we will be in non-compliance with grant funds.
