Agenda Item Text:

Adopt Resolution 25-35 recognizing Howard G. Buffett and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation for outstanding philanthropic contributions to Cochise County and the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.

Background:

Since 2013, the Howard G. Buffett Foundation has contributed over $100 million to support law enforcement operations in Cochise County. These funds have provided essential support to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), including:

  • Establishment and operation of the Border Security Operations Center

  • Acquisition and maintenance of air support assets

  • Personnel and equipment funding to strengthen operational capacity

  • Infrastructure improvements at CCSO facilities

  • Community outreach programs supporting public safety

This philanthropic partnership has strengthened the Sheriff’s Office’s ability to address challenges associated with border security and public safety, benefitting residents throughout the County. The Board of Supervisors seeks to formally recognize these transformative contributions and express its appreciation to Howard G. Buffett and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation for their ongoing commitment to the people of Cochise County.
