Agenda Item Text:
Approve Fiscal Year 26 State of Arizona Supreme Court Fill the Gap (FTG) grant application for Cochise County Superior Court, in the amount of $233,227.59, effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.
Background:
The Court is requesting continued funding from the state aid to the courts fund ($39,275) and use of the local set-aside ($193,952.59). The state aid to the courts fund is also referred to as the Fill the Gap fund. The state aid to the courts fund consists of monies appropriated to the fund and monies allocated pursuant to ARS 41-2421. The purpose of the fund, established in ARS 12-102.02, is to provide state aid to the Superior Court, including the Clerk of the Court, and Justice Courts for the processing of criminal cases. This annual funding from the state and local funds will cover the salary and employee-related expenses for 2.8 positions:
- 1.0 FTE Court Security Officer
- 1.6 FTE Pre-Sentence Investigator
- 0.2 FTE Pre-Trial Officer

Submit the application to the Supreme Court, Administrative Office of the Courts.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Loss of ongoing funding source for the processing of felony cases in Cochise County.
