Agenda Item Text:
Adopt Resolution 25-37 Establishing a Public Works Adopt-A-Roadway Program.
Background:
Cochise County does not currently have an Adopt a Roadway Program. The implementation of this program would allow residents to participate in keeping their roads beautiful.
Adopting groups would take pride in their contributions to the community and be confident that their efforts are increasing public awareness about litter control. Adopt a Roadway would save taxpayer dollars and give residents and organizations valuable opportunities to work together to make a difference.
Cochise County has over 1,400 miles of maintained roads. There are nearly 23.7 billion pieces of litter that are left on 8.3 million miles of roadways in the United States, equaling 2,855 pieces per mile. We would invite residents and organizations to make a positive change and keep Cochise County beautiful by Adopting a Roadway.
