Approve the use of funds from the Cochise County Sheriff’s Donation Fund to purchase and donate K9 vehicle cages to the Sierra Vista Police Department, as authorized by the National Criminal Enforcement Association, in the amount of $24,000.
Background:
The Sierra Vista Police Department has requested the Cochise County Sheriff's Office to help fund the outfitting of two Chevrolet Tahoe's with specialized K9 cages. Each cage costs approximately $12,000.00 for a total project cost of $24,000.00. The Sheriff's Office will use funds from a previous donation received in April 2022. The donation was to be used for K9 related expenses. One of the SVPD K9 handlers is assigned to the regional SWAT team, ensuring these resources will enhance both local and county-wide operations. The CCSO received written authorization from the original grantor to utilize these funds to assist the Sierra Vista Police Department. The attached quotes will be updated for current pricing. The project cannot exceed the $24,000.00 limit.

If approved, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office will coordinate with County Procurement and the Sierra Vista Police Department for the transfer of funds.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved, the Sierra Vista Police Department will need to find alternative funding sources for the K9 cages.

Please approve the transfer of funds to assist the Sierra Vista Police Department K9 program. One copy will be retained by Cochise County and one copy will be sent to the Sierra Vista Police Department.
