Agenda Item Text:

Adopt Resolution 26-05 to approve Vote Center Locations for the 2026 Primary and General Elections as listed on the attached Exhibit; and authorize the Elections Director to make substitutions as necessary prior to each election, in the event that a Vote Center replacement needs to be made in accordance with A.R.S. 16-411.

Background:

Pursuant to ARS 16-411, the Board must designate polling places prior to an election. That Statute also allows for the Board to authorize the Elections Director to make substitutions as necessary prior to each election in the event a Vote Center replacement needs to be made in accordance with ARS 16-411.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Finalize all Vote Center rental agreements, promote locations to voters and conduct the 2026 Primary and General Elections and enter into IGA's with all jurisdictions calling an election.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

State law requires the designation of polling place/voting centers. Not approving this would also mean a delay in securing the facilities, as they are popular public meeting places that are booked up a year in advance.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Email a scanned copy of the Resolution to the Director of Elections.
