Agenda Item Text:
Approve Intergovernmental Agreement Between Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) and Cochise County for CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Station) to fund the existing CORS Hereford Road site in the amount of $31,460.00 and to budget for one additional CORS site, location to be determined in the approx. amount of $31,460.00.
Background:
In partnership with ADWR, they will provide the CORS site installation and maintenance with a five-year agreement. CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Station) acts as a reference station for GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receivers. CORS increases standard receiver accuracy to within an inch. Data is used for 3D positioning, meteorology, space weather and tracking crustal motion. The data provided by the CORS site benefits the public and private sector users.
These CORS sites will eliminate most needs for a reference station set-up by the County, which can be subject to theft or vandalism.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, ADWR, Arizona Department of Water Resources, will complete the installation of the CORS site and Surveyors will have accurate surveying data to complete field work in support of multiple divisions of Public Works, including Operations, Engineering, Solid Waste, and Facilities.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
ADWR can remove the existing CORS site and the County will no longer have access to the data provided by the existing site.
