Discussion and possible recommendation regarding adoption of new building codes and the proposed local building code amendments under 2023 National Electrical Code- 2024 International Building Codes- 2012 International Energy Conservation Code.
Background:
Building staff has reviewed current Cochise County building code amendments and reviewed the City of Sierra Vista proposed amendments based on the Pima County-City of Tucson Joint Code Committee developed over the past year and a half. Building staff is recommending maintaining some of the current local amendments and incorporating amendments developed by the Joint Code Committee that are applicable to Cochise County. Staff recommend adoption of newer building codes to maintain consistency with surrounding jurisdictions, keeping Cochise County current with industry standards regarding new construction technologies.
