Approve Contract #26-20-HEA-01, by and between Cochise County and PetraMED, LLC, for Medical Director Services for Cochise County Health & Social Services (CCHSS) and the County Jail.

Background:

Pursuant to A.R.S. § 36-2202, CCHSS and the Cochise County Jail require Medical Director coverage to provide statutory and clinical oversight for public health operations. $22,000 per month or $264,000 per year.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

CCHSS will continue providing healthcare services with medical director coverage for the residents of Cochise County. The Cochise County Jail will continue to provide medical services with medical director coverage to inmates. 

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

In addition to violating A.R.S. § 36-2202, CCHSS and the County Jail will not have a medical director and will not be able to provide healthcare services to residents. This would interrupt critical public health functions such as immunizations, TB oversight, and communicable disease response.
