Connected Communities Vision Kit
SUMMARY EXPLANATION/BACKGROUND:
In 2023, the Broward MPO was selected for the United States Department of Transportation’s Thriving Communities Program—a technical assistance initiative aimed at advancing community-driven transportation and land-use planning. Through this Program, the Broward MPO received expert support from a Capacity Building Team that included WSP, Accelerator for America, and MCHP COLAB.
The Broward MPO and the Capacity Building Team focused on a study area spanning a key north-south corridor in central Broward County—stretching from ½ mile east of I-95 to ½ mile west of the Florida Turnpike (SR 91). This area includes many of the County’s densest, most transit-reliant neighborhoods. As part of this effort, the Connected Communities Vision Kit was developed to help municipalities use planning, zoning, and land-use strategies to guide growth and create vibrant communities that link people with their needs. For the Vision Kit, please see Attachment 1.
A presentation on the Connected Communities Vision Kit will be provided at the upcoming meeting. For the PowerPoint presentation, please see Attachment 2. MPO staff will be available at the upcoming meeting to address any questions or comments.
