Comprehensive Salary Study – Summary Preparatory Outreach and Data Availability Results

SUMMARY EXPLANATION/BACKGROUND:

Every two years, per Section 5.6 of the MPO's Policies & Procedures Manual (updated June 26, 2024), the Broward MPO establishes a Classification and Pay Plan schedule to ensure that the compensation for MPO staff is fair to similar positions within the community. The Classification and Pay Plan is established using the results of a comprehensive salary study conducted in coordination with public agencies across Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties, including MPOs, county governments, and municipalities.
 
To prepare for the comprehensive salary study, the Broward MPO has transmitted to 20 local governments a brief participation survey to gauge their willingness to participate in the study and to identify the data available to develop statistically significant regional benchmarks, comparative insights, and workforce trends. A salary survey will be designed using this information and distributed later this year to those public agencies agreeing to participate.
 
At the upcoming meeting, consultant staff will brief the Executive Committee on the participation survey results. For the PowerPoint, which includes the survey results, please see the Attachment. MPO and consultant staff will be available to address any questions or comments.
