REQUESTED ACTION:
MOTION TO RECOMMEND THE BROWARD MPO BOARD APPROVE the Mobility Hubs Program Cycle 1 Priority List
WHAT THIS ACTION ACCOMPLISHES:
Approval of this action will allow staff to award MPO Mobility Hubs Program Cycle 1 applications.
SUMMARY EXPLANATION/BACKGROUND:
Mobility Hubs are transit access points with frequent transit service, high development potential, and a critical point for travel demand or transfers within the transit system. Mobility Hubs aim to seamlessly integrate different modes of transportation (walking, bicycling, transit and automobiles) with investments in infrastructure that maximize first and last-mile connectivity. The MPO's Mobility Hubs Program is a competitive and discretionary grant program that provides funding for Mobility Hubs, including planning studies, and the design and construction of eligible elements.
At the October 27, 2021 Technical Advisory Committee and Citizens' Advisory Committee meetings, and at the November 4, 2021 MPO Board meeting, staff introduced the Mobility Hubs Program Evaluation Tool and the criteria for the prioritization of Mobility Hubs Program project funding. The MPO Board approved the Mobility Hubs Program Evaluation Criteria on December 9, 2021.
The Mobility Hubs Program Cycle 1 officially closed on February 28, 2022. The MPO received one application from the City of Coconut Creek for a Mobility Hub Master Plan. For the proposed Mobility Hubs Program Cycle 1 Project Ranking for approval, please refer to the Attachment. MPO staff will be available at the upcoming meeting to address any questions or comments.
