Interlocal Agreements Between the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization and the City of [Insert Government], Florida for Transportation Planning and Related Services
SUMMARY EXPLANATION/BACKGROUND:
The MPO is authorized, pursuant to Sections 339.175(6)(g) and 163.01, Florida Statutes, to contract with other governmental entities in order to accomplish its metropolitan planning and programming duties as well as administrative functions. As the MPO has the ability to assist its member governments by providing expertise in the areas of metropolitan planning, land use analysis, transportation/transit studies, public outreach and engagement, and transportation/transit-related grants, member governments have the opportunity to enter into an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) with the MPO for these types of services on an as-needed/task work order basis.
The proposed standard ILA between the municipalities and the MPO, found in Attachment 1, enables the municipalities to submit task work orders to the MPO for needed transportation services, freeing up municipal resources. Depending on the nature of the work requested, the MPO may choose to utilize its Library of Service Providers/General Planning Consultants (which currently consists of the following firms: Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., Kittelson and Associates, and Whitehouse Group Inc.) to complete the work. In exchange for providing these services, the MPO shall be compensated for staff time and direct and indirect costs.
MPO staff will make a presentation and address questions and comments at the upcoming meeting. For the PowerPoint presentation, please see Attachment 2.
