REQUESTED ACTION:
MOTION TO RECOMMEND BROWARD MPO ENDORSE Broward County's Low Stress Multimodal Mobility Network Master Plan
WHAT THIS ACTION ACCOMPLISHES:
Approval of this motion will provide a recommendation to the MPO Board to endorse Broward County's proposed Low Stress Multimodal Mobility Network Master Plan.
SUMMARY EXPLANATION/BACKGROUND:
The Low Stress Mulitimodal Mobility Network Master Plan is the product of one of the three local match projects that Broward County provided for the Broward Safety Action Plan (BSAP). The Broward MPO and Broward County Government jointly secured the Safe Streets and Roads for All Grant from the United States Department of Transportation to develop the BSAP. Broward County provided a local match of in-kind services for the development of three studies: the Low Stress Mulitimodal Mobility Network Master Plan, Intersection Safety Study, and Near Miss Study.
Broward County Government hired consultants to create the Low Stress Mulitimodal Mobility Network Master Plan. The Plan examined the transportation system in Broward County to determine where to place multimodal transportation facilities to get people where they want to go. The Plan seeks to feasibly plan for a complete low or lower-stress multimodal transportation facility network designed for non-motorized users utilizing available and forecast right-of-way.
The proposed Low Stress Mulitimodal Mobility Network Master Plan Executive Summary, found in Attachment 1, consists of proposed project alignments that are separated into jurisdictional categories: city, county, city-county, State and multi-agency.
At the upcoming meeting, Broward County staff will deliver a brief presentation (please see Attachment 2), address any questions or comments, and request endorsement of the Low Stress Mulitimodal Mobility Network Master Plan.
