REQUESTED ACTION:
MOTION TO APPROVE Amendment No. 1 to GPC Task Work Order No. 21 Between Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization and Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for Infrastructure Hardening: SR-A1A From County Line Road to South of Arizona Street in a Total Amount Not to Exceed $299,963.50
WHAT THIS ACTION ACCOMPLISHES:
Approval of this item will amend the MPO's existing Agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for implementing the MPO's infrastructure hardening framework study along State Road (SR)-A1A extending the original project limits (Hallandale Beach Boulevard to south of Arizona Street) to County Line Road to south of Arizona Street as well as increasing funding from $149,971.38 to a total not to exceed $299,963.50.
SUMMARY EXPLANATION/BACKGROUND:
On April 10, 2025, the MPO Board approved Task Work Order (TWO) No. 21 with Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc. for Infrastructure Hardening: SR-A1A from Hallandale Beach Boulevard to South of Arizona Street (found in Attachment 1). The TWO provides planning assistance, including technical analysis and the development of planning recommendations, conceptual plans, countermeasures, professional graphic design activities, and planning-level cost estimates for developing an infrastructure hardening project for SR-A1A in the City of Hallandale Beach and Hollywood.
After execution of the TWO, it was determined that the project boundary should be extended to County Line Road and the consultant was contacted to provide a fee proposal for amending the scope to include this change. The revised scope would take into account required additional tasks, which include an expanded study area, additional model analysis, two additional public engagement activities, and increased coordination with municipal stakeholders.
In order to incorporate this revised scope, the MPO is now requesting an Amendment to the previously approved TWO. The proposed Amendment would extend the project limits from County Line Road to south of Arizona Street, include the additional work described above, and increase the not-to-exceed amount for the project from $149,971.38 to $299,963.50. All work to be performed is consistent with the project scope and budget in the MPO's approved Unified Planning Work Program (budget).

MPO and consultant staff will be available at the meeting to address any questions or comments.
