Broward Safety Action Plan 2025 Safety Snapshot

SUMMARY EXPLANATION/BACKGROUND:

In 2021, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (also referred to as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law) established the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Discretionary Grant Program and appropriated funds from the United States Department of Transportation to implement the Program. The funds provide Federal financial assistance to support local initiatives that prevent deaths and serious injury on roads and streets. The Broward MPO and Broward County Government jointly applied for the SS4A Grant and received a $5 million award to develop the Broward Safety Action Plan (BSAP).

On February 12, 2026, the Broward MPO Board approved the BSAP Technical Report. This action helped fulfill the conditions of the Grant agreement, including the creation of an annual report to be shared with the Federal funding partners. The annual Safety Snapshot is the mechanism for the annual reporting.

At the upcoming meeting, MPO staff will present the 2025 Safety Snapshot and request comments on the report from now until October 30, 2026. In addition, MPO staff is requesting updates on safety-related achievements or initiatives that local agencies in Broward have undertaken in 2026 to add to the progress report portion of the Safety Snapshot. The Safe Streets 4 Broward Oversight Committee will then formally review and approve the final version of the Safety Snapshot at their November 18, 2026 meeting.

For the 2025 Safety Snapshot, please see the Attachment. Questions and comments will be addressed at the upcoming meeting.
