Call to Order and Recognition of Quorum

The meeting was called to order at 6:07 p.m. and it was noted a quorum was present.

Role was called.

Approval of Minutes - January 27, 2021 meeting; March 24 and April 28, 2021 workshops
 
Committee members did not discuss the item. No members of the public spoke.
Motion made by Jose Rodriguez, seconded by John Michael Perez to approve. The motion was passed by unanimous consent.

Approval of Agenda

Committee members discussed the item. No members of the public spoke.
Motion made by Jose Rodriguez, seconded by Justin Proffitt to approve. The motion was passed by unanimous consent.

Bryan Calekta of MPO staff gave a presentation on this item. Committee members discussed the item including due dates for city resolutions for project eligibility. No members of the public spoke.
 

ACTION ITEMS

MOTION TO RECOMMEND BROWARD MPO APPROVE an Amendment to the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2021 - 2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP): FM# 439891-5 SR-869/SW 10th Street Connector TSM&O Smart Work Zone
 
Peter Gies of MPO staff, Vanita Saini of FDOT, and Victoria Williams of FTE were available to answer questions. Committee members discussed the item including automated and connected vehicle technologies, evacuation routes, and State Road 869/Sawgrass Expressway construction impacts on traffic. No members of the public spoke.
Motion made by Justin Proffitt, seconded by John Michael Perez to approve. The motion was passed by unanimous consent.
 
2.
MOTION TO RECOMMEND BROWARD MPO APPROVE the DRAFT Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Multimodal Priorities List (MMPL)
 
Peter Geis of MPO staff gave a presentation on this item. Committee members discussed the item including funding inquiries for specific projects on State Road 7. No members of the public spoke.
Motion made and duly seconded to approve. The motion was passed by unanimous consent.

Report From Partner Agencies - Florida Department of Transportation - SW 10th Street Connector Preferred Alternative
 
Paul Schwab of RS&H and Vanita Saini of FDOT gave a presentation on this item. Committee members discussed the item including sound walls, tolling, utility lines, and which direction construction may start first. No members of the public spoke.

Committee members discussed Vision Zero and how the MPO intends to aim for zero fatalities, how the infrastructure bill funding is being prioritized, potential FEC train stations, and complete street projects.

The Broward MPO and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) plan to jointly perform an interim roadway functional class assessment, with special emphasis placed upon public roads not currently eligible for federal aid funds from FHWA for disaster recovery and other purposes.
