Judge Oakley called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

Commissioner Precinct 4 Joe Don Dockery gave the invocation.

The court acknowledged the remaining student artists from Shady Grove Elementary. Burnet County recognized the works of art being displayed throughout the Courthouse.

Samantha Melvin, Teacher, presented awards to student artists from Mrs. Jones Art Class at Shady Grove Elementary.

The court discussed contracts, agreements or grants to be approved and/or ratified:
      1.   Grant Presentation from LCRA

Steve Dyer, L.C.R.A. and Trista Fugate, P.E.C., presented a grant award to Burnet County to be used for the purchase of new communication equipment and radios. The grant award was for $22,487.00 and Burnet County matching funds portion was $5,622.00

Judge Oakley recognized, George Russell, L.C.R.A. Board Member and former Marble Falls Mayor, was in attendance. Judge Oakley also thanked Jana Teague, Grant Administrator, and Jim Barho, Emergency Management Coordinator, for their hard work on the application process.

Steve Dyer, L.C.R.A., recognized Shiela Slagel, L.C.R.A. Community Grant Program, for all her efforts on this program.

The court heard a presentation and overview of the Central Texas Food Bank in Burnet County.

Kathy Green, Central Texas Food Bank, stated to the court in 2017 the Central Texas Food Bank has distributed 824,838 pounds of food in Burnet County. Mrs. Green also stated to the court what the Central Texas Food Bank is doing now and in the future to help end hunger.

The court discussed a preliminary plat approval of Juniper Ridge, a private subdivision consisting of 3 lots on 22.92 acres out of the J.H. Ridgeway Svy, Abst. No. 720, also known as Lot 4B, The Leones Subdivision, an unrecorded subdivision, Burnet County, Texas.

Jim Barho, Emergency Management Coordinator, stated this is a continuing CERT Grant and this is the third year Burnet County has received this grant. The funding received will be used for new classes and replacing old equipment.

Capt. Chris Jett, stated to the court this grant would replace the consoles in Dispatch Center at the Sheriff's Office.

Capt. Matt Kimbler, added an additional call for bids for fleet vehicles, UTV, and radios for the jail. These items would be paid out of restricted funds.

Karen Hardin, County Auditor, suggested the purchasing agent place the bids on the buy board.

Karen Hardin, County Auditor, stated to the court the EIGA rate needs to be set by Commissioner's Court. Mrs. Hardin stated the Auditor's Office and the Jail are currently re-negotiating a contract with the D.O.J. for federal inmates housing rates.

The court heard Department Updates:

Jim Barho, Emergency Management Coordinator, stated to the court CAPCOG and his office is sponsoring a Management 335 Course on Event Security Planning at the AgriLife Center on March 13 and 14, 2018. Mr. Barho stated the LEPC Grant has been finalized and he will be coming back to update the court. Mr. Barho updated the court on the Hazmat spill last week where 5,000 gallons of fuel was spilled on to the highway and caused concern for surrounding wells. Central Texas Underground Water District will monitor the surrounding wells for any possible contamination.

Judge Oakley stated to the court the new E.O.C Area is complete at the Sheriff's Office.

Commissioner Precinct 3 Billy Wall, thanked, Jim Barho, for all he did to help with the accident last week and for calling the Salvation Army to assist.

Stephanie McCormick, Collections, stated to the court GCAT has hired Jim Lehman, former OCA Representative over all OCA Specialists, to assist in the collection of court fines and fees. Mrs. McCormick also stated the Federal Court has rescinded its support of HB1913.

Herb Darling, Development Services, reported on increased activity in Precincts 1 and 2. Overall construction is up $12,000,000.00 for 2017 in the unincorporated areas.

The court held a public hearing concerning adopting an Order Prohibiting Solid Waste Disposal and Processing Facilities in the unincorporated areas of Burnet County.
