Judge Oakley called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

The court held a moment of silence in remembrance of 9/11.

The court led the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States and Texas Flags.

The court discussed the Hunger Awareness Proclamation on behalf of the Burnet County Hunger Alliance.

Pam Rogers, Founding Member of the Burnet County Hunger Alliance, updated the court on the Hunger Alliance. Mrs. Rogers thanked the court for the Proclamation.

Joy Shirley, Llano Uplift Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, updated the court on awards received and recent donations.

Judge Oakley read a Proclamation designating September 17, 2018 to September 23, 2018 as Constitution Week.

Joy Shirley, Llano Uplift Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, presented Judge Oakley with a Certificate of Appreciation for his continued support of American History.

The court discussed Tax Anticipation Note.

Duane Westerman, SAMCO Capital Markets, Inc., stated they accepted bids from 7 different banking institutions. However Security State Bank provides additional ways to help cover costs of issuance yielding a higher amount received. Mr. Westerman stated he is recommending accepting a bid from Security State Bank.

The court discussed coverage of the Magistrate’s Office during his scheduled and/or non-scheduled absence.

Judge Kirk Noaker stated he needs other Magistrates to fill in while he is scheduled to be in conferences.

Judge Pounds stated she would be happy to assist with Jail Call Magistration.

Judge Nelson stated she would be able to assist with Magistration.

Judge Simon thanked all the J.P.s and Judges for always providing the extra Magistrate coverage.

The Magistrates will meet to work out a plan.

Judge Oakley stated he has received a letter from Donna Klaeger resigning from the Region K Water Board and Bluebonnet Trails Community Services Board.

Judge Oakley asked Judge Nelson to serve on the Bluebonnet Trails Community Service Board. Judge Nelson stated she would have to resign from another board due to both meetings being held at the same time.

Judge Oakley stated this will be a future agenda item.

The court discussed the possible acceptance on donation of real property in Horseshoe Bay Area.

Judge Oakley stated this property is known as the Fuch's House, a historic home site in Horseshoe Bay, Burnet County.

Judge Oakley and Commissioner Precinct 4 Joe Don Dockery have reservations accepting the donation of this property.

JoAnn Myers, Chairwoman, reported the Historical Commission can help assist with fund raising for this building. Mrs. Myers agrees the building needs preservation but does not feel this would be a good building for the County to own.

Colleen Davis, Asst. County Attorney, reported Eddie Arrendondo, County Attorney, stated the extension is sufficient.

Judge Oakley read an Ordinance Levying Tax Rate for County of Burnet.

Motion is made by Commissioner Precinct 2 Russell Graeter, Seconded by: Commissioner Precinct 1 Jim Luther, Jr. to approve the Ordinance Levying a Tax Rate for the County of Burnet. This Tax Rate will effectively be decreased by 1.74 percent and will decrease taxes for Maintenance and Operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $1.74.
