The court discussed the proposed Utopia Fest mass gathering pernit process.
Judge Oakley stated there will be an open meeting September 19, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Agrilife Extension Office.
Judge Oakley stated there will be a required public hearing concerning the Mass Gathering Permit, tentatively October 9, 2018.
Judge Oakley has submitted an Order delegating the Burnet County Sheriff to act in all capacities concerning this permit.
Sheriff Calvin Boyd addressed the court concerning public safety and that the Sheriff's Office is diligently working through the process before issuing this permit.
John Erskine, Burnet Fire Marshall, stated his office is assisting in the process and the application is 85% complete.
Herb Darling, Environmental Services Director, stated this application is currently incomplete and additional materials have been requested.
Commissioner Precinct 2 Russell Graeter spoke on behalf of Road and Bridge concerns.
Commissioner Precinct 3 Billy Wall would like to relook at the safety of the roads leading to the possible music festival.

Lee Winkler, Resident, spoke in opposition of the Mass Gathering and presented the court with a petition containing 504 signatures all in opposition of the Mass Gathering Permit.
Russell Weakley, Resident, spoke on the narrowness, limited sight distance and low speed on C.R. 200.
Bonnie Brown, Resident, spoke in opposition of the Mass Gathering citing a lack of space.
Eddie Shell, Attorney, stated his opposition to the permit and cited how the promoters have already broken the law.
Beth Barton, Resident, stated the court needs to protect the surrounding properties, the cemetery and the church on C.R. 200.
Sandra Estes, Resident, stated emergency responders will not be able to get out to citizens should they have an emergency during this Mass Gathering.
John Kelso, Resident, stated his concern with the traffic and how the promoters have tried forcing the community to allow this.

Constable Precinct 4 Missy Bindseil stated the new Environmental Services Officer, Chris Cowan, will be introduced to the court on Tuesday September 25, 2018.
Commissioner Precinct 4 Joe Don Dockery stated the Constables and Herb Darling, Environmental Services Director, will provide funds to outfit the new officer out of their existing budgets.
