The court took action regarding a Proclamation for the month of April being Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness month.

Carolyn Ragsdale, Child Welfare Board, received the Proclamation.  Ms. Ragsdale reported there are 3 orginzations that participate in protecting the children and work well together. 

Damon Beierle, Commissioner Precinct 2, thanked the Child Welfare Board volunteers for all that they do.

The court received a Presentation by Burnet Bluebonnet Festival Committee regarding an update on Burnet Bluebonnet Festival.

Kim Winkler, Susan Brown and Angela Moore, Chairs of the Chamber Committee updated the court of the upcoming Bluebonnet Festival and thanked the court for all their support.

The court discussed approval of a Proclamation and Presentation from CASA. 

Doris Allen, Interim Executive Director, with CASA reported to the court their biggest concern is having enough Advocates for the children in the court system.

The court discussed acceptance of the grant for Texas Department of Agriculture Disaster Relief Fund through the Community Development Block Grant Program for $350,000 in support of debris removal and proper disposal.

James Oakley, County Judge, questioned Judy Langford, concerning acceptance of the grant funds. Ms. Langford reported that Judge Oakley, will be notified by email to accept the check and the county will then receive it.   Ms. Langford will work with the Auditor's office on the specifics of the grant.

Terry Kennedy, Adult Probation Director, stated to the court the importance of Drug Court.  Mr.Kennedy reported to the court Burnet County has a seventy two percent to seventy four percent success rate of participants.

Jim Luther, Commissioner Precinct 2, reported that construction on county road 120 is moving along as scheduled. James Oakley, County Judge, reported that the Tax Office in the North Annex needs repairs on their drive thru.  The Historical jail is still progressing on its remodeling.  The Tourism and Media Tour are doing well.

James Oakley, County Judge, reported to the court the jail passed their inspection reports.

James Oakley, County Judge, reported the metal work at the Recycle building is complete and discussed future work to be completed by the county.  Judge Oakley will be speaking to Matt Smith with Highland Lakes Recycling to address some needs at the recycling building.
