To COVID-19 Virus
As of Sunday, there has been 1 positive case of COVID-19 in Burnet County. Comm. Beierle has been asked where Burnet County stands in terms of Shelter in Place. At this time, Judge Oakley states his position is he wants to respect what the Governor is doing statewide, however things are rapidly changing all the time.
The Burnet County Tax Assessor office has closed to the public effective March 24, 2020. They will be available by phone and mail. Governor Abbott has allowed for extensions of vehicle registrations and titles issued until further notice.
The Burnet County Annex offices are now closed to the public. This includes the Auditor, Treasurer, and Development Service Offices, which are also available by phone and email.

Department Updates
Janet Parker, County Clerk, addressed how the office is operating at this time. Ms. Parker stated that while her office is closed, they are still assisting the public via mail, email, and setting up appointments for different services. The Clerk's office continues to receive and provide documents on a daily basis.
Casie Walker, District Clerk, has suspended passport applications at this time as they are not open to the public. Currently, her staff is answering phone calls, accepting filings and responding to emails
Herb Darling, Development Services, has closed his offices to the public. They are operating by phone, online and mail. They will continue with field inspections and continue to schedule appointments in an effort for the construction industry to continue their work.
Eddie Arredondo, County Attorney, is still continuing with their operations. Many of his staff are working remotely from their residences, however there is at least one staff present in his office each day.
Karin Smith, County Auditor, thanked the IT department for assistance with her staff working remotely.
