Judge Oakley called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

Commissioner Beierle led the Court in Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance to the Flags.

Judge Oakley asked if there was anyone from the public that would like to speak. Jarrod Dodd, spoke requesting that the Omega Brief be entered into the minutes of this meeting. This brief is in regard to Covid-19, and requesting that the federal mandates not be allowed in Burnet County. 

 

The court held a presentation for Burnet County TEEA Week, October 3rd - 9th.  Leta Gore, County Chair reported on the state meeting. Kelly Tarla, Extension Agent stated there are two Burnet County residents that serve on the state board. Ms.Tarla thanked the members who work hard all year long. Judge Oakley read the Proclamation into the record.

The court held a presentation of Proclamation for Burnet County National 4-H Week, October 3rd - 9th.  Kelly Tarla, Extension Agent commended the 4-H Youth Development Program of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extesion Service and the many men and women who have made the program a success.  Ms. Tarla stated last year's total membership was 187 and this years goal is 205 members.  Judge Oakley read the proclamation to the Court.

The Court discussed clarification of the Burnet County Employee longevity policy. Sara Ann Luther, Human Resources stated the policy currently states that you need to have two years of service. Clarification of the policy states you are eligible with two years of continuous service.

The Court discussed applying the FY 2022 Formula Grant for Indigent Defense Grant Program from Texas Indigent Defense Commission.

The Court discussed, contracts, agreements or grants to be approved and or ratified. Karin Smith, County Auditor requested to speak on item number h. Interlocal Agreement for the North Hill Country Public Defenders’ Office. Commissioner Dockery asked if there would be any employees added with this contract. Ms. Smith stated there will be 6 additional employees added if the court approved the agreement.

The Court discussed a resolution to authorize FY 22 county grant to Williamson Burnet County Opportunities for $10,000 in conjunction with Texas Department of Agriculture Texans Feeding Texans, to provide home-delivered meals to homebound persons in the county who are elderly and/or have a disability and certifying that the county has approved their accounting system or fiscal agent. Dory Yeater, with WBCO stated they would be able to provide hot meals and wellness checks to approximately 500 seniors.

The Court discussed a replat of lots 55 and 68-L1, Clearwater Landing at LBJ II, Phase 2, Plat No. 2.21 to be known as Lot 55A, Clearwater Landing at LBJ II, Phase 2, Plat No. 2.21, combination of a 12” portion of Lot 68-L1 (common area) with Lot 55 to allow for the construction of a home with a pool. Herb Darling, Development Services updated the court clarifying the agenda should state12 feet and not 12 inches.

Comm. Dockery updated the court on the HHW Event. HHW vendors requested the County pay for hotel rooms for all the employees that are traveling to Burnet County for this event.  Comm. Dockery stated there are donations coming in, but ultimately this will be an expensive event.

The court discussed calling for bids and bid openings, request for proposals/qualifications and related openings. Judge Oakley stated there was a closing date for architectural services and 14 bids were received.  Judge Oakley requsted the County Auditor and Commissioner Dockery to review the bids. Dispatch has moved to the new renovated area. The county will need to call for bids for the Sheriffs Office/Jail to bring the wiring/electrical up to code.

Commissioner Beierle stated the Bond meets his requirements.
