Judge Oakley called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

There were no public comments.

The court discussed the purchase of a modular building for the housing of Public Defenders office.  Judge Oakley would like to purchase a modular building from Mobile Modular to be placed on  4 acres Burnet County currently owns across from the North Annex.

The county is looking at using Public Defender grant funds along with FY23 Grant funds and ARPA funds to purchase the building. The county is reviewing a site plan at this time. 

   

Motion was made by Commissioner Precinct 4 Joe Don Dockery, Seconded by: Commissioner Precinct 1 Jim Luther, Jr. to approve the purchase of the building from Mobile Modular for a total price of $218,603.00.

Vote: 4 - 0 - Unanimously

Karin Smith, County Auditor stated the court needs to approve a 6 month extension to the Public Defender Grant and amend the FY23 Public Defender Grant to use any money set aside in the grant for rent to pay for the new building. 

Motion was made by Commissioner Precinct 4 Joe Don Dockery, Seconded by: County Judge James Oakley to approve the 6 month extension of the Public Defender Grant and amend the FY23 Public Defender Grant to use any money set aside in this grant for rent to pay for the new building.

Vote: 4 - 0 - Unanimously

The court took no action on this agenda item. 

The court discussed the consent agenda.  

Judge Oakley opened item g. Consideration and approval regarding department equipment requests and/or property transfers. Comm. Beierle stated he would like to purchase a 2021 Hitachi Model ZW180-6 Wheel Loader in the amount of $189,075.00 to be paid from the 2022 Series Tax Notes.

Motion was made by Commissioner Precinct 2 Damon Beierle, Seconded by: Commissioner Precinct 4 Joe Don Dockery to approve the purchase of a 2021 Hitachi Model ZW180-6 Wheel Loader in the amount of $189,075.00 to be paid from 2022 Series Tax Notes.

Vote: 4 - 0 - Unanimously

The court discussed the consent agenda.

Judge Oakley opened Item a. Consideration and approval of any pending personnel issues within the policy. Sarah Ann Luther, HR Director, presented the final pay schedule structure. All current employees have been budgeted at Step 5 and new positions have been budgeted at Step 3 of the respective Group, with the exception of the Jail.

Karin Smith, County Auditor, stated this is the first step in moving to a Step Program.

Motion was made by Commissioner Precinct #4 Joe Don Dockery and seconded by Commissioner Precinct #1 Jim Luther to approve the outline as presented by the HR Department.

The court took no action on items b. - f. and h.

There was no further business to discuss, Judge Oakley adjourned the meeting at 9:33 a.m.
