Call to Order
Observed a moment of silence for Violet Boyd, Sheriff Calvin Boyd's mom, who passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024.
Public Comments - Pursuant to Texas Government Code 551.007 (b), any person may make comment on any item appearing on the agenda. Any comments made will not be addressed by the Commissioners Court during the Public Comments agenda item. Public Comments are limited to three (3) minutes per person.
Patricia Cope spoke regarding Budget Planning in Burnet County vs other counties.
Roxanne Nelson, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, spoke regarding Constables and JP's having County-wide purview, just as Commissioners do.
James Oakley addressed the public comments that were presented.
Discussion and/or action regarding the selection of members to serve on the Salary Grievance Committee (Oakley)
Vicinta Stafford, County Clerk, addressed the court about the Salary Grievance Committee and the options.
3 public member names drawn and 7 public member alternates names drawn.
Motion is made by Commissioner Precinct 1 Jim Luther, Jr., Seconded by Commissioner Precinct 3 Billy Wall to approve the 6 and 3 public members to be on the Salary Grievance Committee.
The 3 chosen are (1) Raela Bedford, (2) Damon Parisher, (3) Harold Hutson.
The 7 Alternates are (1) John Calhoun, (2) Carmen Pedregon, (3) Steven Hoover, (4) Nancy Graham,
(5) Gary Nave, (6) Melissa Corona, (7) Denise Meadows.
Vote: 4 - 0 - Unanimously
Discussion and/or action concerning prior courts approval of newspaper ad as required for elected officials' salaries and possible action on amended ad (Oakley)
Several members of the public, elected officials and county employees expressed concerns and questions regarding the prior newspaper ad and the new newspaper ad ceiling amounts.
Karin Smith, County Auditor, suggested the proposed amended newspaper ad should be voted on.
Motion is made by Commissioner Precinct 3 Billy Wall, Seconded by Commissioner Precinct 4 Joe Don Dockery to rescind prior courts approval of newspaper ad as required for elected officials' salaries and possible action on amended ad.
Vote: 4 - 0
Motion is made by Commissioner Precinct 3 Billy Wall, Seconded by Commissioner Precinct 1 Jim Luther, Jr. to approve the amended newspaper ad and approve a maximum increase of $20,000.00

Joe Don Dockery added the item to the agenda.
Claire Nybro asked for an explanation about Interlocal agreements.
Patricia Cope asked about Road and Bridge money restrictions. Karin Smith, County Auditor, confirmed Road and Bridge funds are restricted to only be used for Road and Bridge.
Carol Klingman expressed his concerns about road improvement.
Motion is made by Commissioner Precinct 4 Joe Don Dockery, Seconded by Commissioner Precinct 1 Jim Luther, Jr. to approve Interlocal agreement with the City of Marble Falls and Burnet County for manpower and equipment to apply chip and seal paving on city streets.
Vote: 4 - 0 - Unanimously
Discussion and/or action concerning calling for Bids and Bid openings, request for proposals/qualifications and related openings:
Motion is made by Commissioner Precinct 3 Billy Wall, Seconded by Commissioner Precinct 1 Jim Luther, Jr. to award the bid for the windows on the Brigg's building to Marble Falls Glass & Mirror in the amount of $71,731.00.
Vote: 4 - 0 - Unanimously
