TITLE:

Liquor License Presentation

DESIRED OUTCOME:

Provide information to Mayor and Council reference the number and type of liquor licenses in the downtown area of Flagstaff.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

This presentation is in response to Mayor and Councils request for information on the number, type and location of all liquor licenses in the Downtown area of Flagstaff. For the purposes of this presentation the downtown area has been divided into two parts, North side of downtown and the South side of downtown. The north side of Downtown includes 1000 N. Humphreys south to Route 66, and the 500 block of East Route 66 west to the 400 block of West Route 66. The south side of Downtown will include businesses south of Route 66 but north of NAU Campus between Milton Road and everything west of Lone Tree as if it extended north to Route 66. The liquor license application process will be discussed, as will the list of considerations the City Council can use when determining how liquor license applications are sent to AZDLLC. The presentation will define the type and locations of each of the downtown liquor licenses, and how these numbers compare with the rest of the city. Currently there are 213 liquor licenses within the city limits of Flagstaff and 69 or 32% of the total 213 liquor licenses are located in the downtown area of Flagstaff. A comparison between the total (61) and type of 2013 liquor license and 2015 total (68) and type liquor licenses will be presented. Crime statistics for 2013 and 2014 will be given for the downtown area. Terry Madeksza of the Downtown Business Alliance has agreed to share her thoughts as the director of the DBA.
