At your Council Retreat on January 5th, and then continued to January 10th, Council created new external and internal goals for the 2017 - 2019 calendar years.  Ranging in categories from Economic Development, to Personnel, to Social Justice and Climate Change, these goals create the building blocks for this next Fiscal Year's Operating Budget, which in turn fuels desired levels of service to the community and to program outcomes.

As we begin the task of creating an operating budget for our organization in FY18, it is important to establish clear direction from the Council as it pertains to your Goals.  To do this staff is seeking final input on the Categories and Goals established during your retreats, as well as a vote of the Council to adopt those Goals.

Attached for your review is a Summary of the Categories and Goals based upon the input staff received during your retreats.  For purposes of clarity and to avoid redundancy some wordsmithing of the Objectives listed under the Goals has occurred.  Staff will also come prepared to sample for you a tool that has been created to enable staff to both track the progress made on the Objectives and to provide report on that progress to Council.
