TITLE
City Policies and Procedures for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ).
STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Council Discussion.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On January 22, 2018 Councilmember Putzova requested that the City take a comprehensive look at its policies, practices, services in relation to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) equality.
The City offers protections and services to diverse groups of individuals as well as to those who identify as LGBTQ. A tool used to gauge these protections and services is the Human Rights MEI Scorecard. In 2017, the City's score was 67/100 (attachment 1). Since 2017, the standards of credit have been revised (attachment 2). Staff has been working proactively to improve the City's score and is awaiting feedback from the Human Rights Campaign.
