TITLE:
Post WWII Production Housing Definition
PROPERTY INFO:
Type: HPC request for definition
FINDINGS:
Per a request of the Commission, staff has researched and reviewed information about "Post WWII Production Housing," as this term is listed as an exception to Cultural Resources studies while not defined in the Zoning Code. We find that there is no common national definition of this term. "Production Housing" is a subset of Mid-Century Modern movement. It is housing that can be readily identifiable in its simplified form and floor plans, with similar neighbors, constructed within a subdivision, built close to the same time after 1945. They are notable regardless of architectural style by their mass-produced techniques and modern use of materials.
