Consideration of Appointments: Disability Awareness Commission.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Make one appointment to a term expiring March 2017.

By making the above appointment, the Disability Awareness Commission will be at full membership. There are three applications on file and they are as follows:

Financial Impact:
These are voluntary positions and there is no budgetary impact to the City of Flagstaff.

Options and Alternatives:
1) Appoint one Commissioner: by appointing a member at this time, the Disability Awareness Commission will be at full membership, allowing the group to continue meeting to provide recommendations to the City Council.

Background/History:
The Disability Awareness Commission consists of nine citizens serving three year terms. There is currently one vacant seats available.
This commission's goals are to expand educational opportunities; improve access to housing, buildings, and transportation; have greater participation in recreational, social, and cultural activities; encourage greater opportunity for employment; and expand and strengthen rehabilitative programs and facilities.

It is important to fill the vacancies so as to allow the Commission to continue meeting on a regular basis.
