FY24 Neighborhood Sustainability Grant Projects Report

Executive Summary:

The Neighborhood Sustainability Grant program is an annual funding opportunity administered by the Sustainability Division with integral assistance from the Sustainability Commission. The program supports new or existing community-led sustainability projects that align with City and community goals, such as promoting volunteerism, building partnerships, and meaningfully engaging all aspects of the community.

This report and presentation provide an overview of the outcomes and impacts of the FY24 grant cycle.
 

Information:

Each year, the Sustainability Commission reviews, scores, and votes on the Neighborhood Sustainability Grant applications. In fiscal year 2023-2024, the City allocated $75,000 to support 13 community projects. The FY24 awardees were: Thaddeus Cates and the Factory, Flagstaff Community Market, Flagstaff Family Food Center, Northland Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., Housing Solutions of Northern Arizona with Sharon’s Attic, Flagstaff Shelter Services, Lily of the Field, Flagstaff Junior Academy, Community Assistance Teams of Flagstaff, Restoration Soils, Indigenous Bible College (formerly Indian Bible College), Alexi Kimiatek, and Well Deserved Flagstaff Community Fridges.
 
Since its inception over a decade ago, the Neighborhood Sustainability Grant program has funded over 80 projects across Flagstaff. The Program is funded through the Environmental Management Fee.
