TITLE:

Consideration and Approval of Contract: Second Amendment to Greg Clifton Employment Agreement.
 

STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION:


Approve the Second Amendment to Greg Clifton Employment Agreement and authorize the Mayor to execute the Second Amendment on behalf of the City.

Executive Summary:

Greg Clifton entered into his Employment Agreement with the City on July 2, 2019, to serve as the City Manager for the City of Flagstaff. The Employment Agreement was amended effective August 26, 2022, to recognize Mr. Clifton’s exceptional performance and to provide additional vacation leave.

Mr. Clifton desires to retire from his employment as City Manager and has communicated his voluntary resignation to the City Council. The City Council desires to have Mr. Clifton continue as City Manager until such time as a new City Manager is recruited and commences their position, and Mr. Clifton is willing to assist with the transition. Accordingly, the City and Mr. Clifton enter this Second Amendment for the purpose of ensuring the City Council and Mr. Clifton have flexibility in determining his future termination date, and to allow Mr. Clifton’s continued employment on the terms set forth in the Agreement, as amended, so he can assist with the transition to a new City Manager.

Financial Impact:

Funding for the City Manager is provided in the Flagstaff City budget.
