TITLE:

Consideration of Appointments:  Open Space Commission.
 

STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION:

  1.  Make one appointment to a term expiring April 2027.
  2.  Make one appointment to a term expiring April 2028.

Executive Summary:

The Open Space Commission consists of six at-large members whom shall be appointed by the City Council and one designee from the Planning and Zoning Commission. The commission serves as an advisory body on the acquisition, management, use, restoration, enhancement, protection, and conservation of open space land.

The City of Flagstaff is committed to increasing diversity in every board and commission, please consider how the applicant stated they may contribute to this commitment.

There are seven (7) applications on file for consideration by the Council, they are as follows:
  • Christopher Hogan (new applicant)
  • Molly Lesandrini (new applicant)
  • Adrian Franko (new applicant)
  • Daniel Skelton (new applicant)
  • Jessica Garnello (new applicant)
  • Lina Wallen (current Commissioner) 
  • William Kluwin (new applicant)
To reduce exposure to personal information the applicant roster and applications will be submitted to the City Council separately.

COUNCIL APPOINTMENT ASSIGNMENT: Councilmember Spence and Councilmember Garcia.

Financial Impact:

These are voluntary positions and there is no budgetary impact to the City of Flagstaff.

None

Options and Alternatives to Recommended Action:

  1. Appoint two Commissioner: By appointing members at this time, the Open Space Commission will be filled, and this allows the group to meet and provide recommendations to the City Council.
  2. Postpone the action to allow for further discussion or expand the list of candidates.
