Findings:
The Americana Inn Motel was not inventoried by NPS previously, but now meets 50-year criteria as a Route 66 motel. HPO noted exterior work and called building safety to ensure it had been permitted. The applicant provided old postcards to note that the office is not original to the site and basically intrusive to the architecture of the motel itself. The original office was part of the restaurant, which is now demolished. The new owner proposes to rehabilitate more in keeping with the motel's original aspects and a similar color scheme. No cultural resource study will be required. Permitting issues are being resolved with building safety.
