Findings:
Project to remediate environmental issues with non-historic and historic portions of the Jail complex. The current concept is to remove large intrusive non-historic portions and expose and improve the historic jail. Other site improvements have yet to be planned or proposed with the exception of the preservation of the historic jail. HPO is in consultation with County Staff and recommending Individual Listing of the Courthouse and Jail for the National Register of Historic Places. This recommendation is under consideration by the County. The Courthouse and Jail are not currently listed as part of a historic district or individually listed. These buildings are our community's first major civic buildings constructed in the newly minted Coconino County.
